We're Paranoid About Your Privacy
Seriously. We collect the absolute minimum, we don't share anything with anyone, and we're just as suspicious of data collection as you should be.
What We Collect
- Name: Whatever you want to call yourself. We don't verify it.
- Email: For login purposes only. We won't email you unless you request a password reset.
- Phone Number (Optional): Only if you want to bypass the 666 code when calling. Completely optional.
- Zip Code (Optional): For weather forecasts. We send it to government APIs, that's it.
- Truth Coherence Scores: When you submit your assessment of global truth coherence (1-5), we store it. This data is aggregated to calculate collective human perception of reality integrity. Your individual scores are tied to your account but are never shared publicly.
- Voice Recordings: If you leave a message, it's stored by Twilio as a recording. We may post amusing ones.
What We DON'T Do
- ๐ We don't sell your data. Ever.
- ๐ We don't share your data with third parties.
- ๐ We don't use tracking/analytics.
- ๐ We don't send marketing emails.
- ๐ We don't sell or share your phone number with anyone.
- ๐ We don't use cookies for tracking (only for session management).
- ๐ We don't care who you are - anonymous is fine.
Third-Party Services
- Twilio (Phone Hotline): We use Twilio for the phone hotline. When you call or leave a message, Twilio processes that call. Voice recordings are stored by Twilio and may be deleted at any time. We don't share your phone number with Twilio beyond what's necessary for the call to function. twilio.com/legal/privacy
- National Weather Service (weather.gov): Provides our weather data, the flaming remnants of progress. You can also fact-check by simply going outside. When you enter a zip code for weather, we send it to this API. No API keys, no tracking, no proxy service with ads.
- Zippopotam.us: Converts your zip code to coordinates. Verify their accuracy by looking at a map. Or a globe. Remember those, those were pretty neat?
Just you, your zip code, and whatever's left of our public infrastructure. It's cold out there!
Voice Recordings
When you leave a voice message (option 8 in the phone menu):
- Your message is stored by Twilio as a recording
- Twilio retains metadata about the call (phone number, duration, timestamp, etc.)
- We may post amusing/interesting messages on the site
- Messages that reveal your identity will NEVER be posted
- Recordings may be deleted at any time without notice
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database on our own server. Passwords are hashed (Argon2id). We use industry-standard security practices.
Your Rights
- Access: You can view your data anytime (it's in your profile)
- Delete: Contact us and we'll delete everything. No questions asked.
- Export: Want your data? Contact us. We'll send it.
- Opt-out: Just... don't use the site? You're always free to leave.
Changes to This Policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. We won't email you about it because, again, we're not in the business of annoying you.
